Veterinarian Dr Alice Steele has over 15 years of experience as a small animal veterinarian, mainly based on the Kapiti coast.
Veterinary Nurse Natalie Lawrence has over 12 years of experience and was born and raised in the Kapiti region.
We are passionate veterinary professionals, and we want to do things a bit differently. We started The Vet Van in 2025 to provide high quality, personalized care for our patients – in the comfort and convenience of their own homes wherever possible.

Our experienced and compassionate veterinary team is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your beloved pets in the comfort of your own home.
Dr. Alice Steele
Alice moved to New Zealand from the USA in 2006 to study veterinary medicine at Massey University, qualifying as a vet in 2010 and settling in Paraparaumu in 2012. She loves living on the Kapiti Coast and is passionate about helping pet owners in the community keep their pets healthy and happy at all stages of life. She particularly enjoys surgery and has a special interest in dentistry. She lives with her husband, two cats Yeti and Syren, and two English Staffordshire terriers Piglet and Pumbaa. In her free time she enjoys cooking, tramping, and drawing.
Natalie Lawrence
Natalie began working as a veterinary nurse in 2014 and has worked with Alice from the beginning. She was born and raised here on the Coast and currently lives in Raumati with her two dogs, Saffron and Scout, and two cats Bow and Arrow. She also has two very busy daughters so she understands the demands of life and how a mobile service can be very convenient!

Wellness Exams
Comprehensive health assessments to keep your pet in optimal condition. Our exams include full physical evaluation, vaccine updates, and personalized care plans.
Acute Care
Our van is equipped with the tools and medications to diagnose and treat many illnesses and injuries at home; or if necessary, your pet can be hospitalised at our Hub where they will receive round-the-clock monitoring and care.
Ongoing Care
Comprehensive management of chronic health conditions. We provide regular monitoring, medication management, and lifestyle recommendations to ensure your pet's long-term well-being.
Surgery and Dentistry
Our surgical suite, located at our Hub, is equipped with modern technology for both routine and complex surgeries and dental procedures; including advanced monitoring equipment to ensure your pet is safe while under anaesthesia.
Nurse Visits
Experienced veterinary nurses provide the convenience of home visits for allergy and arthritis injections, microchipping, post-surgical checks, nail trims and more.
End-of-life
Let us help maintain your pet's dignity, comfort and quality of life in their final days. We will work closely with you during this difficult time, including euthanasia when the time comes to say goodbye to your beloved pet.
